Spring Ahead – OES style! by Jane Dempsey

15 OES Rescue Woodstock group

Thirty sspring ahead 1ix Old English Sheepdog  and their owners celebrated the first ever ‘I Love my Old English Sheepdog  Parade’  Woofstock 90210 in Beverly Hills, CA on Sunday, March 8th, 2015. Old English Sheepdog Rescue has received many requests over the years to open up our Rescue Parade to OES friends and supporters. We give a big thank you to the City of Beverly Hills and Woofstock 90210 for giving us the opportunity to hold an event where all OES could enter and support the rescue.

The “spring forward” time change had a few people running late but most made ‘ring time’. It seemed more like summer instead of spring but we were happy to see 75 degree temps as the Woofstock festivities began. Being our first time inviting all OES, only four of the OES were ‘friends of rescue’ and the rest were rescues.  The good news was that at least eight more OES showed up to watch and support us.  We hope they will join us next year!

We started the Woofstock festivities at 11 AM and the OES were announced as they passed by the2015 Parade ribbon small stage. Our vet, Dr. Richard Martin, DVM ACVIM passed out the ribbons to the participants and posed for photos. Our parade entry ranged from shaved down to full coated OES, ages were from 7 months to 14 years old, and birth places as far away as South Korea and England were represented.

We tried our group photo on a rise in the park and are not sure if it helped get everyone in the photo or not. Thanks to OESCA members Florence Narron, Kristi Marshall, Mark and Pamela Savoie, Sharon Thralls, Joanne and Roger Lundquist, and Linda Zimmerman for being there and helping us with the event.  It was great to see all of you.  Special thanks to Dawn Largent for finding us the wonderful ribbons!

We were on the local ABC newscasts on Sunday evening and it was exciting for everyone to see themselves on TV. Please go to You Tube at

We hope to make this an annual event with even more OES next year!
