A Love Fest in Beverly Hills

Our 24th Annual Old English Sheepdog Rescue Parade was hosted by the City of Beverly Hills and Woofstock 90210 at Roxbury Park on Sunday, November 5th.  It was definitely 28 and 29 Lizzie Nelsona Love Fest as 31 OES strolled in front of  the stage.  Our thanks also to the many OES and their owners who participated in our ‘I Love my OES’ Parade.

This was by far the largest Woofstock 90210.  Despite a report of possible showers, there were over 4,000 pet lovers who basked in the sun.  People came out to see all the items that the vendors had to offer and visit with the dogs.  This day-long festival is always enjoyed by the do20 Gizmogs and their owners.  There was something for everyone with lots of contests and games of chance for prizes.

Our parade started off the festivities. We had all the participants write a few sentences describing their dog and over the PA everyone heard about the fun-loving spirit of the breed.  Our youngest rescue in the parade was 9 month old Mollie and the ‘Grand Dam’ of the parade was 14 year old Sugar (with every age in between represented).  One family felt the parade might be too much for their 13 year old littermates, so their kids acted as “stand-ins” with stuffed OES.  Dr. Richard Martin of VCA Brentwood Animal Hospital who has been our veterinarian since we started in 1989, once again did the honors of handing out the ribbons and posing for photos.

32 ChiefIn 2018, Woofstock 90210 plan to have a huge celebration in honor of their 10th event.  We are honored that the City of Beverly Hills has asked us again to open Woofstock 90210 and celebrate our 25th Annual OES Parade with them on Sunday, November 4.

We hope you will make plans now for next year so you can come and join us for our 25th Annual Parade!
